Law Intern

Hey guys!! Rmb i told u i went for internship at a law firm?? Haha.. Yea.. I finished my internship!! Lol.. it was quite ok... Relaxing should be the right word. Lol. The law firm i went was called Thomas Philips. When i reached there, I saw some of my classmates and i was relieved!! Hahah!! Now i know i m not a loner and i actually hv someone 1 know. Hehe. So, we went into the law firm together. The ppl dere were surprised to see us and said we were early. We were punctual la!! they said 8.30 so we appeared at their door at 8.30.Hehhe.So, we waited for our time to come. I mean time to start our internship which was 9 o clock. Then, we met some of the lawyers. There is this guy i forgot his name. Hehehe. He was the knowledge manager. He was a nice guy, so he briefed us about the things. Blah blah.. Then, the CEO of the law firm, Matthew came. He talked to us, and we were like WOW, the CEO himself is interning us?? So, he was like we are suppose to let u experience wat a lawyer does on a daily basis. All that... Then, he asked us to do a legal research on Trespass. So, there's trespass on property, on human, on airspace... Had to write notes on our research... He gave us 3 hrs to do it. Look for cases. The law firm is vry cool u noe... They actually hv a mini library in it!! That's how we did our research!! One of the collection of the books was Rm11,000!! And that's only 1 row of their bookrack only!

All the cases were super long and i got tired after reading some of them. Hehe. Had to focus on reading the cases. It's more difficult to understand when the law journals get older. I think the oldest law journal was year 1923. If i m not wrong. Heheh. After that, he asked us to write a letter of demand on trespass on behalf of our client. Like a lawyer letter to warn the person who trespassed.

After that, we had lunch with the lawyers.. We were prepared to go out n hv lunch and the CEO called us to stay for lunch with other lawyers. It was kinda awkward at first because we duno them well. Then, there is another lawyer who talked to us. We talked about law stuff (which we din understand for most of the part), music, and books. Haha. He was quite a nice guy.

After lunch, we were so stuffed. Then, we headed back to the law firm. We didnt do much. We just sat, he gave us samples of letter or demand written by them, summons and some other things. The CEo was busy so we just sat there, took picture, and talked. we didnt do much actually. Hehe

The next day, we went to the jalan dua high court. Cool eh? We went from court room to court room. It was very tiring because the court was very big and there were soooo many court rooms. We didnt noe which court room actually has a case going on. every court room has 2 doors. And sometimes we duno which door is not locked. We listened to quite a few cases, there was one case where there was a drug addict who was caught by the police and he was sentenced to jail for 6 mnths. Some of them stole cars a lot more. My leg hurt a lot because we walked a lot and the high heels i wore wasnt comfortable.

After that, we went back to the law firm and the CEO asked us about our observation. Later, we had a moot court. I was the defendent for my client. So, we had to prepare on how to win the case. My crazy friend prepared fake evidence to prove that the defendent didnt trespass the plaintiff's property. It was quite fun la...

I think the whole internship thing was quite ok. But the only thing i m not used to is, their lunch time is at 1 o'clock. So late!! Hehe. My friends and I were starving around 12. Lol. I am quite happy that they actually taught us some stuff. The knowledge manager asked for our msn too. Hahha. If I need any help on my studies can ask him!! Haha.

Guess I didnt waste this 2 week holiday. =) C ya!
